Christ the Lord

About this piece

A peaceful painting of Jesus sitting alone in a sunlit meadow, gazing upward toward radiant heavenly light breaking through the clouds. Wildflowers sway gently around Him, and the scene conveys quiet hope, contemplation, and divine peace.

How it was made

I painted this during a season when I was learning that faith is often quieter than I expected. I imagined Jesus sitting in an ordinary field—not preaching, performing miracles, or surrounded by crowds—but simply looking toward heaven. I wanted to capture the humanity of Christ: the stillness, the trust, and the constant communion He had with the Father. The open field represents the places in our lives that feel simple, unnoticed, or even lonely. Yet those are often the places where God's presence is most deeply experienced. The light breaking through the sky is a reminder that heaven is never far from those who seek it. My hope is that this painting invites viewers to slow down, lift their eyes beyond their circumstances, and remember that peace is found not only in answers, but in the presence of God. Sometimes the most powerful act of faith is simply sitting still, looking toward the Father, and trusting that He is near.
